What is an Invisible in Canal Hearing Aid?

Worn within the ear canal, Invisible In Canal (IIC) hearing aids are the smallest of all custom-made hearing aids – they fit discreetly deep inside the ear canal, so you can wear them all day long, without anyone noticing they are there.

How do Invisible in Canal Hearing Aids work?

Battery-powered with a single microphone, Invisible In Canal hearing aids are positioned to deliver sound as close to the eardrum as possible.

Things to consider

  • With its small sleek style, IIC’s allow their wearer to be discreet about their hearing loss
  • Due to their small size, Invisible In Canal hearing aids may not be suitable for all. Those with poorer dexterity may find them more difficult to use and change batteries. They may also be unsuitable for those with bendy or waxy ears, or those with more severe hearing loss
  • IIC’s currently do not have rechargeable batteries or bluetooth capabilities

Your Audiologist will be able to help you decide what style of hearing aid is best suited to your hearing loss and needs.
