The Hearing Care Partnership are delighted to announce the opening of our Merthyr Tydfil clinic, in partnership with Darlington Opticians, which will be offering a number of expert hearing care services.

Darlington Opticians are a small group of independent optical practices based in South Wales, aiming to provide a high quality professional eye care service delivered with a personal touch.

The first ‘Darlington Opticians’ practice was established in Merthyr Tydfil in 1967 by John Darlington who retired after 36 years as an Optician and Contact Lens Specialist in 2003. The practice in Merthyr Tydfil is now run by his youngest son, Paul.

As well as offering their patients an enhanced eye examination using the latest technology, Darlington Opticians also offer a range of services such as contact lens fitting and aftercare, and diabetic retinopathy. They are also proud to house a great collection of frames from a whole host of designers including Gucci and Ted Baker.

Working with the The Hearing Care Partnership is Emma Arthure, our audiologist, who will be providing a variety of services including:

  • FREE hearing assessments
  • Hearing aids
  • Ear wax removal
  • Tinnitus consultations
  • Hearing protection
Emma Arthure

Emma completed an Audiology degree at Swansea University back in 2010, graduating with first-class honours. During her training, Emma spent a lot of time working within the NHS before making the move into the private sector after qualifying.

Whilst working in the private sector, Emma gained a lot of experience with various makes and models of hearing aid and has been able to keep up-to-date with the progression of hearing aid technology since qualifying 12 years ago. She has also worked alongside private ENT consultants providing reports for medical clinics, and alongside solicitors providing reports to support patients with noise-induced hearing loss.

“I decided to join The Hearing Care Partnership because they are truly independent, allowing me to guide my patients to the right solution for them without being constrained by certain manufacturers. They allow me time to spend with patients to ensure I am providing the right tests clinically and meeting their individual hearing needs.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my sausage dog ‘Monty’, I love the beach, paddle boarding, and am a Mum to a 19 and 16-year-old.”
